From the artist:
Because these works were inspired by ancient, cataclysmic cosmic events as captured by the Hubble Telescope, I wanted them to represent the energy embodied in those images. Each work captures and freezes a highly energetic event, that of an exploding ball of materials as it slams into a surface. The works are connected to science both as their source of inspiration but also as an informing principle: the works are experimental and not entirely deterministic (once the process of dropping the material is initiated, the results are entirely out of my hands and dependent on forces beyond my control). Each piece is the very embodiment of those forces interacting with each other and acting on the materials.
