Bioastronautics is the first solo show by Melissa Kelley for Gallery 1064. In this body of work, the artist plays with watercolor to honor the organisms that, journeying into space, have contributed to better humankind.
From space tardigrades to plants blooming in space, the collection is eclectic and playful. Marked by the lovable unpredictability of wet-in-wet techniques, the artworks feature explosions of color and texture that draw the viewer in the same journey through the marvel of the cosmos that the portrayed creatures had the pleasure to take.
Bioastronautics is a marvelous expression of the never-ending human curiosity, the pushes us to reach for the unknown.
